This poster provided an excellent opportunity to explore in even greater depth an event I would describe as mythological—both for its historical allure, intertwined with the grueling demands it places on participants, and for the breathtaking setting.
I sought to capture the dawn that cyclists dream of and pursue from the early hours of 5 a.m., the start time. The light symbolizes more than just visibility—it guides the way, helping riders avoid large stones, prevent punctures, and, just as importantly, warm their skin against the biting wind.
At the heart of the design is the Leccione di Brolio, a tree with two trunks united under one crown, standing in the heart of Chianti. Behind it, the castle of Brolio adds depth to the scene.
